There is much mystery surrounding the coming of Jesus the Christ.
Jesus Born of a Virgin Mary
To start how was Mary impregnated by the Holy Spirit, without the sperm of Joseph? Still, in the Gospel of Matthew 1: 1--16 this Gospel traces his genecology from Joseph to Adam. Luke 3:23--38 Jesus genealogy is recorded so it could be proven he was tied in Matthew as the son of David and son of Abraham and had a rightful possession the place a King of Israel.
Jesus Parents Poor
Jesus came to earth in a very humble way. His parents Joseph and Mary were peasants who had to go to Bethlehem to be taxed and counted. Two ways we can summarize they were poor. First the Joseph and Mary used a donkey for her to ride from Nazareth to Bethlehem. When, they got to Bethlehem they could only find a place in a cattle stable.
Jesus Born in Stable
Jesus was born that night in the stable. The announcement went out to the shepherds nearby in the hills. With great wonder they went to see the babe wrapped in clothes and lying in a manager. To think that the God of the universe, wrapped himself in human flesh and subjected himself to such a humble place of birth. The shepherds worshipped him and left rejoicing.
Three Kings from the East
Later, at some time the three Kings from the East that followed his star came to were the baby rested in a house in Bethlehem. They brought gifts suitable for a king: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Presenting their gifts they worshipped the baby king, Jesus Christ.
Christmas Devotions
During this Christmas season we should take some devotional time to consider the different aspects of the birth of Jesus. It is a great mystery how God's Son came to dwell among us. How the second person of the Trinity clothed Himself in human flesh. Jesus went on to live a life with all restrictions of being a human at the same time He was the Son of God.
Jesus Christ Lived in the Human Experience
How this was accomplished this is a great mystery that must be accepted by faith, because scientific reason will not answer the question. All the drawbacks of the human nature were faced by Jesus Christ. In no way did he escape the human experience in any way. Much of his life was spent outdoors, since the climate in the Holy Land is suitable for that kind of experience. Many of his parables come from the human events of the day.
At this Christmas season is a time to set the human gift giving aside and worship the One who came to dwell among us Emmanuel.
